Gamified blockchain

How might we present a blockchain technology to trade fair visitors in an understandable way?

Usecase

This project was implemented in collaboration with the start-up Ubirch, an IoT-company working with blockchain to secure data transfer. So far, the company has had difficulties explaining the innovative but complicated technology to interested parties and potential customers in an understandable and simple way, especially at trade fairs. Therefore, we were asked to develop a concept to make the product graspable for laypersons on the B2B market.

Project Strategy

Status quo analysis • Target group analysis • Market analysis • Expert interview • Concept & Mockups • Pitch

Process

First, we made a detailed analysis of the existing situation through customer journeys. as well as persona painpoints and needs. We were able to identify additional problems to the one mentioned by the company: The start-up had not invested much effort into marketing and the booth itself so far, which reduced the attractiveness and awareness of the brand. After an expert interview with an exhibition stand designer, we took the decision of creating an overall concept, not only including explanation methods to make the start-up’s product understandable, but also create a visually pleasing fair stand with a corresponding communication strategy to maintain customer relations.

Result

The result consisted of two scalable booth concepts, each suitable for different budgets and booth sizes. Four explanation methods were developed that allow visitors to interactively experience and thus understand the technology and its advantages through gamification:

  • City mockup with an interactive supply chain simulator

  • Checking screws with a digital torque spanner

  • Review parameters with a damage detection box

  • Speed & memory game providing an unforgeable certificate to the players

In addition, a marketing concept was developed to attract not only business customers to the trade fair, but also enthusiasts, thus increasing brand awareness and ultimately boosting sales.
